RateMyWebsiteBot is the automated scanner behind RateMyWebsite. When someone runs a report on a site, it visits a small number of that site's public pages to check search visibility, AI visibility, and security. It identifies itself honestly:

What it does

Requests a small number of public pages (never more than 14).
Waits at least 300ms between requests — it never resembles a stress test.
Reads only public content. It never logs in or submits forms.
Never executes or stores your site's JavaScript — screenshots only.

Controlling it

For a domain you haven't verified ownership of, we honor robots.txt. To keep the scanner out entirely, add:

User-agent: RateMyWebsiteBot Disallow: /

If you block it, anyone who scans your site sees a partial report marked as incomplete rather than a full one. Verified domain owners can override the block for their own site.

Why you might see it

Someone — possibly you, a competitor, or a potential customer — ran a report on your site. The scan reads only what any visitor can already see.
